Maine Maritime Museum
Eighteen members assembled in the lobby of the Maine Maritime Museum around 10:30 a.m. and everyone was signed up for the tour by 10:45. For the next 2 hours, our group was guided around the MMM campus by a very knowledgeable senior guide lady (who knew her stuff!). To a person, everyone was impressed with a facility we've all taken for granted, but never will again. The tour included the Blacksmith Shop and the Paint and Restoration Building. The William T. Donnell (shipyard owner's) 1892 Victorian Home was on the campus and the docent doing that tour was also well informed.
A picture of the CTRC (Chew the Rag Club) Donnell is the second from the right with a his brother standing behind him. Keep in mind no cell phones, radio, or TV. We had a very interesting albeit to short a stay and need to plan this again for the future. Thanks to Jonathan Willard for his introducing us to one of is favorite food spots, 104 Main St. Topsham!
